Best TV Show Tracker Apps in 2026 (After TV Time)
The best TV show tracker apps in 2026, checked on episode tracking, TV Time imports, sync, alerts and price, with picks for iPhone, Android, web and free.
- TV shows
- Movies
The short answer
- Omniphile is the best TV show tracker app for iPhone and iPad in 2026, with episode-by-episode progress, ratings for single episodes, free two-way Trakt sync and imports from TV Time, IMDb, Trakt and Letterboxd.
- Omniphile runs only on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. On Android, SeriesGuide is the best standalone tracker, and Showly is a free Trakt-based app that also runs on iPhone.
- Trakt is the best choice if you use several devices or the web: core tracking is free, it imports a TV Time export directly, and most other trackers sync with it.
- Serializd is the best free tracker and the closest thing to Letterboxd for TV, but it covers TV only and documents no data export.
- After TV Time’s July 2026 shutdown, choose a tracker that keeps a copy of your history outside its own servers, through Trakt sync or a backup file you control.
The best TV show tracker app for iPhone and iPad in 2026 is Omniphile: it tracks every episode, lets you rate single episodes, syncs both ways with Trakt and imports a saved TV Time export. Across Android and the web, Trakt is the strongest pick, SeriesGuide is the best Android-only app, and Serializd is the best free one.
Three months after TV Time shut down, two questions matter most: can a new tracker take your history, and does it keep a copy anywhere other than its own servers? So alongside episode tracking, alerts and price, we looked closely at imports and at each app’s way out. We make Omniphile, so weigh our first pick accordingly. Every detail about the other apps comes from their App Store and Google Play listings, official sites and help pages, checked on October 22, 2026.

How we chose these apps to track TV shows
We judged every app on five things:
- Episode-level progress. It has to track individual episodes, show what’s next, and cope with a show you started partway through.
- Imports. Can it read a TV Time export saved before the shutdown, or pull in your Trakt history?
- A copy of your data elsewhere. TV Time users kept only what they had exported. We favored apps that sync to an independent service such as Trakt, or let you save a backup file you control.
- New-episode alerts, and whether they cost extra.
- Price and platforms, including what sits behind each paywall.
Two well-known names aren’t ranked. Letterboxd is a film diary, and its App Store listing doesn’t mention TV.1 JustWatch launched a TV Time importer in July,2 but it is a streaming guide first: its listing describes a watchlist with availability alerts rather than episode-by-episode tracking.3
The best TV episode tracker apps, ranked
Best overall on iPhone and iPad
1. Omniphile
- Platforms
- iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch
- Price
- Free; optional Premium subscription
- Tracks
- TV shows
- Movies
- Books
- Audiobooks
- Games
Omniphile is our app, and it’s built around the way TV is actually watched: a show is a run of episodes across seasons, not a single checkbox. It follows each show episode by episode, lets you start tracking at any season and episode, and lets you rate a whole show, a season or a single episode on a 5-star or 10-star scale with half- or quarter-star precision. A show you’ve paused and a show you’ve given up on are different statuses, so your watching list stays honest.
Films sit in the same library, and books, audiobooks and games are there if you want them; switch off any kind and it disappears from the app. To move in, Omniphile imports TV Time’s official data export, IMDb, Trakt, Letterboxd, Sofa Time, Refract, Bingers and SuiteTV, plus whole libraries from Sequel and Sofa.
The feature we’d point former TV Time users to is the free two-way Trakt sync: your shows and films also live in your Trakt account, so your history never depends on one app. Premium adds iCloud sync between your devices, the Apple Watch app for marking episodes from your queue, release alerts for new episodes, and, since version 4.1 in October 2026, an alert when a movie or show you follow becomes available to stream.
Best for: iPhone and iPad users who want every episode and film in one library, with a copy of their history on Trakt.
Strengths
- Episode-by-episode progress, with ratings for seasons and single episodes
- Free two-way Trakt sync
- Imports TV Time, IMDb, Trakt, Letterboxd and more
- Paused and abandoned are separate statuses
Drawbacks
- iOS and iPadOS only, with no Android or web version
- iCloud sync, release alerts and the Watch app need Premium

Best for Trakt users and the web
2. Trakt
- Platforms
- Web, iPhone, iPad, Android
- Price
- Free; VIP $59.99 on the US App Store
- Tracks
- TV shows
- Movies
Trakt is less an app than an account your viewing history lives in. It runs on the web and in official iOS and Android apps, and many third-party trackers read and write to it, including Omniphile, Showly, SeriesGuide and Sofa Time. Trakt says core tracking is free and that “you don’t need VIP just to start tracking.”4
Its importer takes a TV Time GDPR export .zip directly and brings over watch history, watchlist and ratings where available; comments and social activity stay behind.4 It also imports from IMDb, Plex and Letterboxd, its mobile apps can sync your history from services such as Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video once you connect them,5 and it sends a push notification when a new episode airs. For a copy of your own, Trakt offers a manual export in its data settings.6
The catch is limits. Since February 2026, free accounts get 250 watchlist items and five personal lists of up to 250 items each, alongside a 100,000-play watch history, the same as VIP’s.7 VIP raises the other limits and adds rewatch tracking, Year in Review stats and an ad-free Trakt. The US App Store lists VIP at $59.99 and at $5.99 without naming the billing periods;8 $59.99 matches the $60-a-year price reported since early 2025.9
Best for: Anyone who switches between devices, or wants a history that many other apps can read.
Strengths
- Free core tracking on web, iOS and Android
- Imports a TV Time export .zip directly
- Can sync your history from Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video and more
- Most third-party trackers sync with it
Drawbacks
- Free accounts cap the watchlist at 250 items
- Rewatch tracking and an ad-free Trakt need VIP
Best free, and closest to Letterboxd for TV
3. Serializd
- Platforms
- Web, iPhone, Android
- Price
- Free, with no paid tier
- Tracks
- TV shows
Serializd is the nearest thing to Letterboxd for television: a diary, ratings and reviews, lists, and a feed of what the people you follow are watching. You can rate an individual episode, a season or a whole series, see stats on your watch time and genres, and get notifications for upcoming episodes.10 Its FAQ says it is “completely free to use” and that it imports from TV Time and Trakt.11
It is built for TV alone; its store listings don’t mention films, so movie tracking means a second app. Its Android app also trails the iPhone version in ratings, 3.6 on Google Play against 4.6 on the US App Store as of October 2026.
Best for: TV fans who want to rate episodes, write reviews and follow friends, without paying.
Strengths
- No paid tier at all
- Rate single episodes, seasons or whole series
- Imports from TV Time and Trakt
- Diary, reviews, stats and a social feed
Drawbacks
- TV only: its listings don’t mention films
- No data export documented
- Its Android app is rated 3.6 on Google Play
Best for Android
4. SeriesGuide
- Platforms
- Android and Amazon Kindle devices
- Price
- Free; optional yearly subscription
- Tracks
- TV shows
- Movies
SeriesGuide is an independent, open-source Android tracker, and it is still actively maintained: its last Google Play update was on September 23, 2026. It tracks watched episodes and movies, shows what to watch next and where it streams, and needs no account at all, since you can back up and restore your library as JSON files. Connect Trakt and it syncs your watched and collected episodes and movies, and lets you post ratings and comments there.12
The app carries no ads; its listing says it is “supported by its subscribers, not by advertisers or investors.” A yearly subscription, after a 30-day free trial, adds SeriesGuide Cloud sync between devices, notifications for upcoming episodes, marking an episode watched more than once, and extra widget options. Trakt isn’t on that list of paid features.13 The price appears only inside the app, so we can’t quote it here.
Best for: Android users who want a private, ad-free tracker that works without an account.
Strengths
- Free, open source and ad-free
- Works without an account, with JSON backups
- Connects to Trakt
- More than 5 million downloads on Google Play
Drawbacks
- Android only
- Cloud sync and new-episode notifications need the subscription
Best free Trakt app for Android and iPhone
5. Showly
- Platforms
- Android, iPhone, iPad
- Price
- Free; optional Premium
- Tracks
- TV shows
- Movies
Showly began as an independent Android app and is now published by Trakt: both its App Store and Google Play listings name Trakt as the developer, and its open-source code lives in Trakt’s GitHub organization.14 It reached iOS in January 2025. It tracks your progress through the shows and movies you’re watching, flags upcoming episodes and premieres, keeps custom lists and collection statistics, and syncs with your Trakt account.15
Showly Premium adds extras such as a news section, a light theme, custom images and quick rating. On the US App Store it is listed at $1.99 or $5.99 a month, or $14.99 for life. The Google Play version contains ads, while the open-source Android build is free of Google services.
Best for: Trakt users who want a clean, free tracking app on Android or iPhone.
Strengths
- Open source (GPL-3.0)
- Notifications for new episodes, seasons and premieres
- The same app on Android and iPhone
Drawbacks
- Built around Trakt, so Trakt’s free limits apply
- The Google Play version shows ads
Best for automatic tracking and anime
6. Simkl
- Platforms
- Web, plus a companion app for iPhone and Android
- Price
- Free; PRO $34.99 a year
- Tracks
- TV shows
- Movies
Simkl is a web-first tracker for TV, movies and anime. Its strength is logging what you watch without you: it works with media servers and players such as Plex and Kodi, and its Chrome extension syncs Netflix or Crunchyroll.16 It imports from more than 20 services and from CSV or JSON files.
TV Time’s shutdown hit Simkl hard. Its TV Time import page says “hundreds of millions of episodes were added in the first 24 hours alone,” so as of October 22, 2026, data import is temporarily open only to paying PRO and VIP members.17 PRO costs $34.99 a year and removes ads and adds rewatch tracking and custom lists. VIP costs $34.99 every six months and adds CSV and JSON export and automatic backups, and Lifetime VIP is a one-time $249. Simkl also grants PRO free to members who visit on at least 20 days in a month.18 On phones, the Simkl Lists app is a minimal companion, so expect to do most things on the website.
Best for: People who watch through Plex, Kodi or Netflix in a browser and want it logged without tapping anything.
Strengths
- Automatic tracking from media servers, players and a Chrome extension
- Imports from 20+ services, including Trakt, IMDb and MyAnimeList
- TV, movies and anime in one account
Drawbacks
- Data import is temporarily PRO and VIP only
- CSV and JSON export need VIP
- The mobile app is a basic companion to the website
A lighter iPhone app on Trakt or Simkl
7. Sofa Time
- Platforms
- iPhone, iPad
- Price
- Free; Premium $14.99 a year
- Tracks
- TV shows
- Movies
Sofa Time, formerly TVSofa, has been on the App Store since January 2020. It tracks episodes and movies, shows where to stream across more than 500 services, sets reminders for episode and movie releases, and syncs your watchlist and viewing history with Trakt or Simkl.19 That last point makes it a good front end if your history already lives in one of those accounts. As of October 2026, Premium is $14.99 a year or $2.29 a month, with lifetime options.
Best for: iPhone users whose history already lives on Trakt or Simkl and who want a simple front end.
Strengths
- Syncs with Trakt or Simkl
- Release reminders and widgets
- Streaming guide across 500+ services
Drawbacks
- iPhone and iPad only
- No direct TV Time import in its listing
The best way to track TV shows and movies together
Two setups hold up well. The first is one app for everything. On iPhone and iPad, Omniphile keeps series and films in a single library, with the same statuses, ratings and statistics for both. Trakt does the same on its website and in its own apps.
The second is a Trakt account as the record, with whichever app you like on each device: SeriesGuide or Showly on an Android phone, Omniphile, Showly or Sofa Time on an iPhone, and the website on a laptop. Each of those apps reads and writes the same Trakt history, so changing phones or apps doesn’t mean starting over.
What to avoid is the setup TV Time users had: years of history in one company’s database, with no copy anywhere else. Serializd is the exception to plan around. It covers TV only and documents no export, so it works best as a social diary next to a tracker that holds your full record.
Moving your TV Time history to a new tracker
TV Time shut down on July 15, 2026, saying it was “no longer sustainable” to run as a free app, and that personal data would be deleted after that date.20 Our page on what happened to TV Time has the full story; here is what it means when you choose a tracker now.
If you saved your export, keep the .zip as it is. Omniphile, Trakt and Serializd all import TV Time data. Simkl does too, though only for paying members for now, and JustWatch built its own importer.2 For Omniphile, the TV Time migration guide covers each step, and Trakt’s importer accepts the .zip without unzipping it.4
If you didn’t, that history is gone, and no app can bring it back. The quickest rebuild is to start each show where you left off rather than logging old episodes one by one. In Omniphile you can begin tracking at any season and episode, and your queue picks up from there.
Which TV show tracker app should you pick?
- You have an iPhone or iPad and watch both shows and films: Omniphile. Connect Trakt so your history also lives outside the app.
- Your history already lives on Trakt or Simkl and you want a simple iPhone app: Sofa Time works with either.
- You use an Android phone: SeriesGuide if you want no account at all, Showly if you use Trakt.
- You switch between a phone and a computer: a free Trakt account, with one of the apps above on each device.
- You never want to pay: Serializd has no paid tier, and the free tiers of SeriesGuide and Trakt go a long way.
- You want something like Letterboxd for TV: Serializd, for reviews and a social feed. If you want films in the same place, see Letterboxd for TV shows.
- You watch through Plex, Kodi or a browser, or watch a lot of anime: Simkl, or Trakt with its Plex and streaming syncs.
For most people on iPhone, we’d start with Omniphile, and its free Trakt sync means the choice is easy to undo. On Android or in a browser, start with a free Trakt account and add SeriesGuide or Showly on your phone. Whichever you choose, set up a sync or save an export now, not in the week a shutdown is announced.

Common questions
- What is the best TV show tracker app for iPhone?
- Omniphile is our pick for iPhone and iPad: it tracks shows episode by episode, lets you rate single episodes, syncs both ways with Trakt and imports a saved TV Time export. It has no Android or web version. Sofa Time is a lighter iPhone alternative that runs on a Trakt or Simkl account.
- What is the best free TV show tracker app?
- Serializd is entirely free, with no paid tier, on the web, iPhone and Android, and it lets you rate individual episodes. Trakt, SeriesGuide and Showly also have free versions, with paid tiers that raise limits or add sync and alerts.
- Is there a TV show tracker app like Letterboxd?
- Serializd is the closest match: a diary, episode and season ratings, reviews and a feed of friends’ activity, all for TV. If you want films and series in the same library, Omniphile on iPhone and iPad and Trakt on the web cover both.
- Can I still import my TV Time history?
- Only if you downloaded your TV Time export before the service shut down on July 15, 2026, because new exports can no longer be requested. Omniphile, Trakt and Serializd import that file, and so does Simkl, though as of October 2026 only for paying PRO and VIP members.
- What is the best TV show tracker app for Android?
- SeriesGuide is the strongest Android-only tracker: free, open source, ad-free and usable without an account. Showly and Trakt’s own app are good Trakt-based options, and Serializd also has an Android app.
- Is Trakt free?
- Yes, core tracking on Trakt is free. Since February 2026, free accounts are limited to 250 watchlist items and five personal lists of up to 250 items each. VIP raises those limits and is listed at $59.99 on the US App Store as of October 2026.
