Best Movie Tracker Apps in 2026 for iPhone, Android and Web
The best movie tracker apps in 2026, compared on diary dates, rewatches, ratings, imports and price, with picks for iPhone, Android, the web and film fans.
- Movies
- TV shows
The short answer
- Omniphile is the best movie tracker app for iPhone, iPad and Mac in 2026: it keeps each watch with its date, rates in half or quarter stars, imports Letterboxd, IMDb and Trakt history, and tracks TV, books and games beside your films.
- Letterboxd is the best for film lovers who want a social diary on the web, iPhone and Android. Its free tier covers logging, ratings, reviews and lists; Pro, at $18.99 a year on the US App Store, adds stats pages and removes third-party ads.
- Trakt keeps one history of films and TV on every platform and syncs with many other apps, while Moviebase is the best movie tracker on Android.
- IMDb is the simplest free option: ratings from 1 to 10, a watchlist, and a watch history that only you can see.
The best movie tracker app for iPhone, iPad and Mac in 2026 is Omniphile, which keeps every watch with its date and imports your Letterboxd, IMDb or Trakt history. Letterboxd is the best for a social film diary, Trakt for films and TV on every device, Moviebase for Android, and IMDb for simple, free ratings.
A movie tracker has three jobs: remember what you watched and when, hold what you want to watch next, and keep your ratings in a form you can take with you. The apps below do those jobs best. We make Omniphile, so weigh our first pick accordingly. Everything about the other apps comes from their App Store and Google Play listings, official sites and help pages, checked on November 5, 2026. We compared what each app documents, not how it felt after a week of use.
The best movie tracking apps compared

How we chose the best movie tracker apps
We judged every app on five things:
- A dated diary. Every viewing logged with the day you watched it, not just a list of films seen, so “when did I last see this?” has an answer.
- Rewatches. A second viewing should be its own entry with its own date, not an edit to the first.
- A watchlist and ratings. Somewhere to keep what you want to see next, and a rating scale fine enough for your taste.
- Getting your history in and out. Imports from Letterboxd, IMDb and Trakt, so you don’t start from zero, and an export so you can leave.
- Price, ads and platforms, including what sits behind each paywall, and whether the app also tracks TV.
Three apps people ask about aren’t ranked. Sequel tracks films alongside TV, books and games, but its App Store listing reads like a watchlist and doesn’t describe dated viewings or rewatches, and its Trakt sync and where-to-watch information are Sequel+ features.1 Serializd is a Letterboxd-style diary for TV only. And TV Time shut down on July 15, 2026; our page on what happened to TV Time covers where to track shows now.
The best movie tracker apps, ranked
Best overall on iPhone, iPad and Mac
1. Omniphile
- Platforms
- iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch
- Price
- Free; optional Premium subscription
- Tracks
- Movies
- TV shows
- Books
- Audiobooks
- Games
Omniphile is our app. Every film in it has a status: For Later is the watchlist, Up Next is what you plan to watch soon, and Watched, Gave Up and To Purchase cover the rest. Each watch is logged with its date in the film’s watch history, and ratings use a 5- or 10-star scale with half- or quarter-star steps, or custom emoji. Films marked Up Next form a queue on the Home screen, which shows the total runtime of everything in it.
Getting your history in is the part we have worked on most. The Letterboxd importer takes the export ZIP as it is: every film you marked watched or rated comes in with its rating, and each diary entry becomes a watch on its date, so a film you logged three times keeps three dates. Your watchlist arrives as For Later, liked films become favorites and lists become collections; reviews and tags stay behind. IMDb’s ratings and watchlist CSV files import too, as our IMDb migration guide shows, and Trakt history comes in by username or through two-way Trakt sync, which is free.
The rest of the library sits beside your films: TV shows episode by episode with a rating for each episode, plus books, audiobooks and games if you turn them on. Statistics, a calendar and a monthly wrap-up cover every kind. Free accounts can keep two collections.
The limits are real. There is no Android or web version. Logging a new rewatch, the Where to Watch section on each title, release alerts and streaming dates are Premium features, as are iCloud sync and the Apple Watch app. On iPhone and iPad, version 2026.11.3 split movie releases into theatrical, rent-or-buy and streaming dates for Premium members; the Mac update with that change was still waiting for App Store review on November 5. Profiles, reviews and comments are opt-in, and the community is far smaller than Letterboxd’s. Every version is dated in Omniphile’s changelog.
Best for: Film fans on iPhone, iPad or Mac who want a dated film diary next to their TV shows, books and games.
Strengths
- Each watch kept with its date, including an imported Letterboxd diary
- 5- or 10-star ratings in half or quarter steps
- Imports Letterboxd, IMDb and Trakt; two-way Trakt sync is free
- TV tracked episode by episode in the same library
Drawbacks
- No Android or web version
- Logging new rewatches, where to watch and release alerts need Premium
- A much smaller community than Letterboxd’s

Best for film lovers
2. Letterboxd
- Platforms
- Web, iPhone, iPad, Android, Apple TV
- Price
- Free, with ads; Pro $18.99 a year, Patron $48.99 a year
- Tracks
- Movies
Letterboxd is the closest thing to a Goodreads for movies: a social diary of the films you watch. Its App Store listing lets you “log films with date, rating, review and tags,” and the diary form has an “I’ve watched this before” box for rewatches.23 Ratings go from half a star to five in half-star steps.4 You can share an entry with anyone, close friends or only yourself, though “your diary date (if set) and watched status for this film remain publicly visible.”3
The free tier covers logging, ratings, reviews, the watchlist and lists, with ads. Pro, at $18.99 a year on the US App Store, adds annual and all-time stats pages and streaming-service filters powered by JustWatch, and removes third-party ads; Patron, at $48.99 a year, adds custom posters and more stats.2 Its importer accepts Letterboxd’s own CSV format and IMDb export files, and turns a watched date into a diary entry.4 The app is rated 4.8 from about 88,000 ratings on the US App Store, and has over 10 million downloads on Google Play.5
Two caveats. Letterboxd is built for films and doesn’t track returning TV series; when its current owner bought in, co-founder Matthew Buchanan wrote that series would come “only once we know we can do it right.”6 And since April 2026 its majority owner has been reported to be selling its stake; as of November 5, 2026, no deal has been announced.7 Our guide to Letterboxd alternatives covers the sale and how to export your diary.
Best for: People who want a social film diary, with reviews, lists and friends to follow.
Strengths
- Log films with a date, rating, review and tags
- A rewatch box on every diary entry
- A large film community, with reviews and lists
- Imports Letterboxd CSV files and IMDb exports
Drawbacks
- Films only, with no TV series
- Stats pages and ad removal need Pro
- Diary dates stay public even on private entries
Best for films and TV on every device
3. Trakt
- Platforms
- Web, iPhone, iPad, Android, Apple TV
- Price
- Free; VIP listed at $59.99 and $5.99 on the US App Store
- Tracks
- Movies
- TV shows
Trakt is less a social network than an account your viewing history lives in. Its App Store listing promises a “detailed history of everything you’ve watched,” lets you mark films and episodes you watched in the past, check in to what you’re watching, rate and comment, and keep a watchlist and personal lists. It can import from IMDb, Plex, Letterboxd and TV Time.8
VIP adds Month in Review, Year in Review and All Time Stats, unlimited personal lists and items, improved rewatching and advanced filtering, and it applies to every official Trakt app and the website. The US App Store lists VIP at $59.99 and $5.99 without naming the billing periods.8 The app is rated 4.1 from about 1,400 ratings on the US App Store, and 4.1 from about 8,800 reviews on Google Play.9 Many apps read and write to a Trakt account, Omniphile and Moviebase among them, so your history isn’t tied to one app. If Trakt’s free limits are why you’re looking around, our Trakt alternatives guide goes through them.
Best for: People who want one history of films and TV that follows them to every device and app.
Strengths
- A detailed history of everything you watch, films and episodes
- Apps for iPhone, Android and Apple TV, plus the web
- Imports from IMDb, Plex, Letterboxd and TV Time
- Many other trackers sync with a Trakt account
Drawbacks
- Less of a social diary than Letterboxd
- Unlimited lists, all-time stats and improved rewatching need VIP
Best on Android
4. Moviebase
- Platforms
- Android, iPhone, iPad
- Price
- Free, with ads on Android; Premium yearly listed at $13.99 and $16.99 on the US App Store
- Tracks
- Movies
- TV shows
Moviebase, from the developer Christian Krueger, is a film and TV tracker with more than 5 million downloads and a 4.5 average from about 147,000 reviews on Google Play.10 Its listing describes a watch history of “every movie and episode you’ve watched, with ratings and dates,” where each rewatch keeps its own date, ratings out of 10, a ratings history and viewing diary, and custom lists.11
Moving in is easy: it imports from TV Time, Letterboxd, IMDb, Trakt, Simkl and SeriesGuide, and its two-way Trakt sync “keeps your watch history, ratings, collection and watchlist in step.”11 Its site adds watch-time statistics and a personal calendar of upcoming episodes and releases.12 The Android app contains ads. Moviebase also has an iPhone and iPad app, with a 4.7 average from only 55 ratings on the US App Store, where Premium is listed weekly, monthly, yearly ($13.99 and $16.99) and as a lifetime purchase.11
Best for: Android users who want a full film and TV tracker with dated rewatches and Trakt sync.
Strengths
- A watch history of every film and episode, with dates
- Each rewatch keeps its own date
- Two-way Trakt sync of history, ratings, collection and watchlist
- Imports from TV Time, Letterboxd, IMDb, Trakt, Simkl and SeriesGuide
Drawbacks
- The Android app shows ads
- Only 55 ratings on the US App Store so far
Best free and simple
5. IMDb
- Platforms
- Web, iPhone, iPad, Android
- Price
- Free, with ads
- Tracks
- Movies
- TV shows
IMDb is the simplest option if you mainly rate. You can give any released title a rating “from 1 to 10,” and “ratings are set to private by default”; the Your Ratings page exports them as a CSV file.13 Mark as Watched records what you’ve seen without a rating, review or check-in, and “your watch history is visible to only you.”14 The app keeps a watchlist and shows where to watch a title across streaming services.15
What its help pages don’t describe is a diary with a date for each viewing, or rewatches, and we found no Letterboxd import. It is free, with ads, and rated 4.8 from about 549,000 ratings on the US App Store.15 If you outgrow it, our IMDb migration guide shows how to export your ratings and watchlist and bring them into Omniphile.
Best for: People who mostly rate what they watch and want a watchlist, with no social diary.
Strengths
- Ratings from 1 to 10, private by default
- A watch history only you can see
- Ratings export as a CSV file
- Where to watch across streaming services
Drawbacks
- Its help pages describe no dated diary or rewatches
- No Letterboxd import
How to keep track of movies you’ve watched
Whichever app you choose, the routine is the same, and starting with the history you already have saves the most time:
Export what you already logged
From Letterboxd, sign in on the website and open Settings, then Data, then Export your data. From IMDb, export the CSV files from Your Ratings and your watchlist. Trakt history can be pulled in by apps that connect to your account.Import it into one app
Omniphile, Trakt and Moviebase all list Letterboxd imports, and Letterboxd itself imports IMDb files. In Omniphile, open Settings, then Import Library; on a Mac, choose File, then Import Library.Log each film the day you watch it
A date is what turns a list of films into a diary. Rate it while it’s fresh, and log a rewatch as a new viewing rather than editing the old one.Keep the watchlist in the same app
Saving films to watch next in the app that holds your history means you never wonder whether you have seen something already.
If you also watch series, pick an app that tracks them too, so one history covers both; our ranking of TV show tracker apps compares the options for episodes.
Which movie tracker app should you pick?
- You use an iPhone, iPad or Mac and want every watch dated, next to your shows, books and games: Omniphile.
- You want a social film diary with reviews, lists and friends: Letterboxd.
- You switch between the web, Android, iPhone and Apple TV, or use apps that sync with Trakt: Trakt.
- You’re on Android and want a full tracker for films and TV: Moviebase.
- You just want to rate films and keep a watchlist, privately: IMDb.
For most people on iPhone, iPad or Mac, we’d start with Omniphile: it keeps your history the way a diary should, takes a Letterboxd export as it is, and tracks your shows in the same place. On Android, start with Moviebase; if the community is what you’re after, nothing replaces Letterboxd. And if you’re not ready to choose, a Trakt account keeps your history in one place while you try the others.
